Academy Response to the Browne Review and Comprehensive Spending Review
The Academy is launching a Development Appeal on 20th January 2011 to raise £250,000 to campaign for the social sciences. Further news about the campaign will be issued nearer the time. |

Making the Case for the Social Sciences 3 - Sustainability, the Environment and Climate Change The third in the "Making the Case" series of booklets showcasing impact-making research is to be launched on 2 November in Whitehall. All Academicians will receive a copy by post. The pdf will also be available to download from the website following the launch event. |

Nominations The closing date for the winter nominations round is Friday 10 December 2010. Forms and guidelines can be downloaded from within the Members' Area. The guidelines are also available here. Please note the Academy now welcomes nominations of social scientists based wholly overseas. |

College of Learned Societies The College of Learned Societies is meeting on Monday 29 November between 11 and 1pm.Professor Paul Whiteley AcSS (left) will speak on "Why we should invest in Universities and not just STEM - Economic growth and investment in Universities in the OECD countries". . In light of Lord Browne's recent report on student support and university funding, and the Comprehensive Spending Review announcement of 20th October, the Academy has issued a statement expressing its concern at the implications for the social sciences.
