The Academy is composed of Individual Academicians and Learned Societies. Academicians are distinguished scholars and practitioners from academia and the public and private sectors. Most of the Learned Societies in the Social Sciences in the United Kingdom are represented within the Academy.
The Academy responds to Government and other consultations on behalf of the social science community, organises meetings about social science and seminars on topics that span social science disciplines, and sponsors a number of schemes that promote social science and enhance its value to society.

President's Lunch. The Annual President's Lunch will take place at Church House, Westminster on Friday 28 November 2008. Professor Cary Cooper AcSS will be the guest speaker. Further details will be posted soon along with details of how to reserve a place or a table.

Nominations for Academicians have now closed. New Academicians, their Proposers and their Seconders will be notified once Council has considered the recommendations of the Nominations Committee at its September meeting.
