Mrs. Madeleine Barrows BA (Hons) MPhil (Oxon) PGCE

Communications Officer

I work part-time on a freelance basis, supporting Academy communications, based largely at home in Portsmouth but attending meetings and other events in London or elsewhere as necessary.

My main roles include maintaining the Academy and Campaign websites, producing the E-Bulletin, editing and producing the Making the Case for the Social Sciences series, as well as supporting meetings. I am also involved with other Academy projects in various capacities and sit on the Communications Committee.

I have a strong academic background in religious history and thought, having studied at Bristol University, Merton College, Oxford, and St Mary's University College, Twickenham plus experience of working both as a schoolteacher and FE tutor, as well as education officer for the British Computer Society. As a result, I bring a variety of skills and experience to my work for the Academy. Otherwise I am kept busy with my four children, editing the journal of a national family history society, running and singing.
