Academy response to the Commons Science and Technology Committee’s Science Communication Inquiry
6 May 2016
The Academy and its Campaign have responded to the Science and Technology Committee’s Inquiry into Science Communication.
In their response, they outline the ways in which social science advances and facilitates engagement with science.
They write: “Rigorous social science provides insight into the world around us, helping explain the socio-economic context in which science, technology, and innovation necessarily interact. Moreover, the social sciences also have a vital role to play in helping Government to understand how to improve communication and public engagement across the board. Social science research can thus help define the parameters of this debate, assess the current situation, and identify future strategies for engagement with science.”
