The Academy is delighted to announce that the Association of Law Teachers has become its 47th member learned society. The ALawT is made up of law teachers from both higher and further education, and for over 40 years has played an active role at the heart of legal education. It has an international membership and maintains close links with other national and international organisations pursuing similar interests.
The Academy’s Chair, Professor Sir Cary Cooper CBE FAcSS warmly welcomed the Assocation into membership. He noted that the Academy is unique amongst National Academies in having learned societies in membership as well as individuals and thus is better able to speak on behalf of the whole social science community. Through its 47 member societies, he said, the Academy can reach out to over 90,000 individual social scientists operating at a wide variety of different levels and in a broad range of environments.
