ESRC has a vital role in providing strategic leadership to social science research in the UK. It is the UK’s largest funder of research on economic and social issues, with a total budget of £200m and some 150 staff. We support over 4000 researchers and postgraduate students in academic institutions and independent research institutes and have responsibility for developing the infrastructure and capability across a diverse set of disciplines that constitute social sciences. Our success is measured in the excellence of that research and the impact that it makes to the economic success and wellbeing of the UK.
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual as Director of Strategy and Business Planning. A key appointment within the ERSC’s leadership team you will have a strong track record in delivering strategic change at an organisational and systems level in either the public or private sectors. You will also have a reputation for operating effectively across organisational boundaries leading and sponsoring interdisciplinary projects, while also engaging effectively with key stakeholders, within government, research institutions and other research councils within the newly formed UK Research and Innovation.
A creative thinker and influential collaborator you will have the communication skills, intellect and political acumen to make an impact in a complex and constantly changing environment.
