Making the Case for the Social Sciences 11: Dementia – Launch 15th March 2016

The eleventh issue in the Academy’s series showcasing the impact made by social science research looks at the topic of dementia and will be launched at a lunchtime seminar at the House of Commons on Tuesday 15th March 2016 with an invited audience of policymakers and influencers. Norman Norman Lamb MPLamb MP (left) will deliver the keynote, and Lisa Cameron MP and Baroness Sally Greengross will join him for the panel discussion. Jane Ellison MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health, has also been invited to speak. A copy of the booklet will be sent to each Fellow and member society after the launch, and it will be available to read on our website and in pdf format.

Professor Jamie Hacker Hughes – President of the British Psychological Society – will speak on behalf of the main sponsor; two contributors from the booklet – Professor Murna Downs of the University of Bradford and Dr Jo Moriarty of King’s College London – will speak about their work. The Panel will include Norman Lamb MP, Baroness Sally Greengross, Lisa Cameron MP, and Colin Capper, Head of Research Development and Evaluation at Alzheimer’s Society.
