President’s Lunch draws full house in Oxford

A full house of 120 Fellows, Learned Society members and their guests attended the Academy’s President’s Lunch, hosted this year by Professor Sir Ivor Crewe FAcSS at University College, Oxford, where he is The Master.
Guest speaker, Alan Rusbridger, former editor-in-chief of the Guardian and Principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford spoke about news, fake news, digital transformation and democracy.
Around 20 new Fellows of the Academy attended the event on 18th December 2018 and received their certificates from Sir Ivor Crewe.
There was an opportunity after lunch for guests to visit the college’s historic chapel, which includes a set of painted windows by Dutch artist, Abraham van Linge, and also a special exhibition of the college’s treasures. The exhibition included material on Clement Attlee, William Beveridge and Harold Wilson, all members of the college.
