Professor Sasha Roseneil appointed as UCL’s first Pro Vice-Provost (Equity and Inclusion)

3 February 2021

Professor Sasha Roseneil FAcSS MInstGA PFHEA, Dean of Social and Historical Sciences, has been appointed as UCL’s first Pro Vice-Provost (Equity and Inclusion). The new role provides senior academic leadership on all aspects of UCL’s equity and inclusion goals, including collaborating with senior leaders across the institution to help facilitate cultural change.

Announcing the appointment, Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Vice Provost (International and Advancement) says: ‘Professor Roseneil is an excellent appointment, as she brings such a strong research background and understanding on equity along with a deep personal commitment and vision. The remit of the role is expansive and covers all equity areas, from admissions and education to employment and research. As an institution we have made progress on gender, and we are working hard on race equity, so in addition to this we need to ensure we are also making gains on disability and LGBTQ+, religion and belief and socio-economic background. This year, the pandemic has rendered even more visible the extent and impact of inequality in our society and so the appointment of a new Pro Vice-Provost (Equity and Inclusion) is timely’.
