The Secretary of State for Health is looking to appoint four Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to NHS Digital (the trading name for the Health and Social Care Information Centre). NHS Digital is the national provider of high quality information, data and IT systems for health and social care, enabling people to make informed decisions and achieve the best possible health and well-being outcomes.
Candidates will have a career record of achievement, including senior leadership experience, along with an awareness of the key challenges faced by the public sector and the ability to bring experience from the private or public sector to bear on these challenges.
In addition, candidates will be expected to bring skills and experience in one of 4 areas:
- the technology sector: understanding technology trends, delivery methods and the execution of major technology programmes
- consumer/digital expertise: understanding digital delivery channels, personal data and the way digital technologies are transforming the way we live and work including changing consumer behaviour
- clinical/research expertise: a clinician with a vision of the priorities and opportunities across medical research and/or academia as a whole
- social care/local government: experience of the social care and local government environment, with an enthusiasm for technology and the role the digital agenda will play in integrated care, prevention and care in the home.
The Secretary of State for Health determines the length of appointments, which will be for up to a maximum of four years.
